 World busiest news site Background Prior to the explosion of the Internet, CNN’s primary focus of online development was Prodigy and Compuserve dial-up service. In 1995 CNN decided to create an online web presence to compliment its on-air channels. A small team was assembled to create the CNN.com web site. Challenge CNN was a fast paced news environment that required time sensitive specials to be built within hours of breaking news. New properties needed to be developed in a timely fashion. Small mini-sites were created were created to compliment Solution When I was “on-shift” in the news room, I was responsible for all the material published to the CNN.com web site. I managed the site by working with a large team of writers, producers and coders. I maintained site stability, prevented errors, posted timely news, built the user experience on the fly, constructed authoring workflow, developed content management system and more. I was the primary advocate of usability testing, user modeling and information architecture. During my time at CNN I and was involved in creating thousands of web pages, building properties and was a key contributor in several of the interface redesigns. But teamwork made it all work.
