CNNenEspanol
CNN - Spanish Version
Background
CNN.com was founded in 1995 and two years later CNN determined the market was ready for a spanish language version of the website to match the cable channel.

Challenge
CNNenEspañol was one of the first major website to be developed in spanish therein was the challenge. There is a much greater wealth of spanish language content sources in today's marketplace than there was in 1997. Which meant that the newsfeeds CNN relied on for creating the news were not multilingual. The systems for pulling content from the 'wire' needed to be created. The effort also involved in  localizing the website design such aschoosing appropriate colors, navigational labels, graphics and making sure the site was supplied with relevant news stories.

Solution
The solution was to develop the technical infrastructure, content production team and website design for a 24 hours a day Spanish language news website. I was on the management team responsible for creating the site including the information architecture, site design and working with the content producers to ensure that the site functioned properly. A whole new newsfeed systems had to be created by our developers to pull what spanish language feeds were available into a content management systems for our content team to review and publish. We trained the staff in the useage of that system and created the site templates, infrastructure and designs to support the effort.
